Business

I am in a commuter bus right now, headed to one of the well-known business meeting in Nairobi. The journey is swift and cosy. The landscape is beautiful but, unfortunately, disappearing very quickly. The weather is a bit chilly and I can feel the sweet scent of the breeze as it forays my open face.

Today seems to be a very interesting day. One of my dear clients, a strong woman and a robust advocate, is taking part in a diabetes conference. She has just published her first book where she writes about the numerous findings from doctors, nurses, patients, etc. who are part of the Diabetic field in Kenya.

As you can envision, lawyers are shunned away by most doctors since they usually convey distress. But this is not the case with my spirited client, who now is also a writer. Unlike most lawyers, she is renowned by many endocrinologists, and rather than being shunned, her presence is applauded and she is treated with boundless deal of respect by that community.

She is not only an exception as a lawyer, but also a rare gem in the presence of doctors.

Why is this the case? The key reason behind her success is bridging between these two disparate fields, law vs medicine, is the worth of her Law Blog. She has adapted the right formula for her blog and sticks to a set of rules which help her blog stand out amongst others. As a result of this approach, her blog is followed by thousands of people, of which many are doctors. Her posts are engaging and her opinions are well appreciated in the community.

I was overwhelmed by the warm welcome received. She made sure I made acquaintance with several senior doctors present. To my surprise, I fit with them and understood their ideologies and practices in-depth.

As my client advanced towards the podium, all I heard was loud cheers accompanied with hefty claps that made me feel at ease and proud to be highly thought of by her. Her speech was well prepared as she articulated her words with pristine knowledge. The attention that the doctors gave to her ascertained that her book was a big deal.

Now, the question is: Will you be my next client?
